I cannot believe that in 180 days from today I will be officially starting my PhD!
Now starts the real waiting game. In 175 days, I will be traveling to Birmingham for induction and training. So now I have 2 different dates to wait on. One on the 23 September and the other on the 30 September. Waiting is not my forte. I struggle with patience, and that is something that I have to go to God with daily since road rage is real when people don’t turn their turning light on.
How are you going to do this?
I can only answer this question one way: by the grace and glory of God almighty! Literally I am not sure how I would be able to do this without God. I know many might not like how I talk about God so much, but God is the only one getting me through life. Doing this will also take much organization, time management, and prayers. I will be exhausted most days and probably will have a breakdown or two if I am being honest. BUT! and yes BUT! I will be able to do this though Christ who gives me strength. (PS: I will be quoting scriptures like a crazy person LOL)
So, what’s the plan?
The plan is simple. I got several plans. LOL. I am currently bullet journaling my pre-PhD schedule and reading list. Bullet journaling has really helped my creative scheduling, so I will be using a new bullet journal I got on Amazon for it. Its minimalist and yellow, so perfect for me. Now onto the plan. I will be setting up time to read through out the week to read the 5+ books I got to read, and about 15 articles that introduce my subject matter. Before that, I will schedule my week to include my reading, work, church, and fun. Then, after scheduling the readings, I will set up a future log for the academic year. That schedule will include any and all trips I might need to make for research as well as the required trips to Birmingham for training.
You wait. You literally just wait. And read… and work… and pray that time moves fast. So far I feel like time is going by extra slow. Even as I write this post, it feels like time has not moved at all.
Coming up I will have several post ranging from impostor syndrome, mental health during your PhD, and a vlog post!
All the Love!
