UPDATE TIME for the PhD Blog Series!!
Hello fellow unicorns! Its that time again! So, with less than 150 days, an update is needed in this PhD Blog Series. Not much has happened in the past month since I did my t-minus 180 days post beside getting my unconditional offer! I know! How exciting! It is finally official. I feel like time is going by so slow though. I haven’t planned as much as I said I was going to. So, starting today a new planning schedule starts!
So what’s the plan?
The plan is I am actually going to start planning. LOL I know, I know! I have to keep my promises! My newest plan is to actually be true to my plan. I want to finish a book a month (both reading it twice and doing annotations). This time I also want to do 5 articles a month when I am not doing a book. I have a few months till I start the PhD officially so I am mostly getting some lit review work done so I am not overwhelmed my first few months as a PhD student. I will also keep true to my schedule. Literally, schedule everything I do. No room for extras. If it does not fit, it does not fit. I can’t be putting so much on my shoulders and not expect to pass out (I have had panic attacks after doing such a thing).
How are you dealing with impostor syndrome?
Impostor Syndrome is something I will talk about a lot during my PhD Blog Series. Well, this one I haven’t had to battle much with the past couple of days, but every time I read something and write about it I start thinking of how did I even get into such a good program when I am merely average smart. But then I read some scriptures, and I ma reminded that God made me smart for a reason. Impostor syndrome has its moment, you just have to know when they are coming and bring out your shield like Captain America, and battle it. I have the best shield, which is that of God. And, I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me daily. I know this might not resonate with some of you, but God is good all the time.
What about work while doing your PhD?
Work slowed down so its all good. While doing my PhD I hope to move up in the company until I find a job in my field. But for now I will be working as an admin, and stay in Orlando until its time to move to Spain. I expect that I will be okay focusing on work and studying due to the fact that work will be in its slow season. I am so blessed to have the job I have because any other job would not be as flexible as my current one is.
When is your next video?
I will be shooting it today Monday and uploaded by Friday at the latest. I am very excited to talk about my battle with impostor syndrome because I think I can really help people with my testimony. If you want to know a bit more about my battle with impostor syndrome click on the link below to my post about Impostor Syndrome.
What should I do now?
Now you should take a look at my other post and videos and see the life of a Freelance Unicorn! There are plenty on my PhD blog series.
All the Love!
