Gelato is essential in the life of a traveler to Italy. My obsession with gelato started thanks to my sister Beatriz, who roped me into getting gelato while in London.
That obsession also led me to gain several pounds in weight. But we are here to talk about Italia!
At the end of July 2017, I got the pleasure to go to Rome for 4 days with my sisters. To say we went
Landing at the airport and coming out of that plane was like walking into a heater.
Thankfully the airport had a nice AC as well as the coach to the train station and the train itself!
nce in the city, it was off to explore the city. We stayed in a nice hotel with an amazing view of the Traiano Forum.
After settling in our hotel and taking a nap we went to fond some cool stuff. We found the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and many more awesome places.
After a long day we ate and headed back to our hotel. The next day, we went ahead and dress with kind pants and sleeves in order to go the the Vatican. After getting lost with the busses, we found St Peter’s Basilica.
After once again getting lost around the Vatican, we found a cute place to eat at and then got our first round of Gelato. Lime and mango for me. Just saying. Later, we went to the Vatican museum with our 72 hour Rome pass in order to see the Sistine Chapel. To say it shut me up was something. There were no pictures allowed and there had to be silence in the room. After the Sistine Chapel took my breath away, we explored the museum a bit more and found so many nice tapestries, golden ceilings and the official papal carriages and vehicles.
After we finished our visit to the museum we went to the Castle of Saint Angelo and that was a trip! How beautiful and big the castle was. Crazy stairwells and beautiful views.
Our next day consisted of going to the Colosseum early in the morning and later going to the Forum and Palatine Hill. To say I was exhausted in that heat is nothing compared to how it felt. It was HOT! Boiling literally! I had to put so much sunblock it’s ridiculous! But I got some of my fave pictures during that morning!
The tan I got that morning was unforgettable. I was the tannest I have ever been. After the Coliseum and it’s surrounding areas, we went off to take a nap. Later, we went on an adventure to get gelato. And we found it near the Spanish steps where we explored, climbed and took many pictures!
We also went to some creepy catacombs which I didn’t take pictures of so… you are welcome.
The next day, it was time to depart. However, I really wanted to explore the Traiano Forum before we left so the girls went to some fountains while I went to the Forum that was right in front of our hotel.
I was one of the 10 people inside that place. It was such a beautiful old market and I just wanted to stay there all day!
What an amazing experience Rome was. While it was boiling, I got to experience a country that I have dreamed of going to for ages. Plus I got to eat gelato about 6 or 7 times.
Let me know about your Roman adventures or what you wish to see when you go to Rome!
